Description
Students and faculty from the New York School of Fine and Applied Art (now, Parsons School of Design) pose for a group photograph on board the SS Rochambeau. The SS Rochambeau was a French transatlantic ocean liner, making frequent trips between New York and Bordeaux. The students pictured here are likely en route to or from the school's Paris Ateliers location. Longtime instructors Betty Carter and Harry Baker are seated directly behind the life preserver.
