In the first of three segments, Walter Thomas discusses "how to read a fashion magazine" and the role of advertising in shaping editorial decisions at American publications. Thomas uses magazines as visual aids during the workshop. He informs participants that Procter & Gamble is suing his magazine [possibly NY Talk Magazine] for using a Tide logo. He then offers advice about collaborating with artistic directors. Participants ask questions throughout the workshop. In the second segment, Thomas discusses the career experiences of workshop participants. The third segment cuts off after five minutes. It is not clear whether or not the event has ended.
