This audio recording is of the first part of the fifth lecture in a five lecture series given at The New School by anthropologist Margaret Mead on the cultural patterning of human development. Much of the initial audio is corrupted and inaudible. Mead describes unique aspects of the culture of the Balinese, and uses birth order as an example of the ways in which different cultures influence the development of an individual person.
