"As people from around the world draw closer together the need for bridges of understanding becomes increasingly important. While this depends primarily on attitude, the skills of listening, questioning, responding and releasing the ideas and feelings of human beings contribute to the lessening of friction and the bringing about of mutual understanding. The aim of this workshop is to increase facility in establishing and maintaining cooperative action in life situations. Case studies and role playing are used for practice in such situations as meeting opposition, thinking more clearly, separating facts from opinions (including one's own), surveying and evaluating material, reaching decisions and, in general, lessening the sources of misunderstanding. Reading in general semantics and in non-verbal communication sources furnishes the basis for discussion, together with certain current plays and films."
