Wagner, Jr, who speaks at 16:07, congratulating the honorees and the Center, and paying tribute to the memory of Mayor La Guardia. At 20:33, Plimpton introduces New York City Mayor John V. Lindsay, who speaks at 21:27 on recollections of Mayor La Guardia, New York City, and the Center. At 31:28, Mayor Lindsay presents the Diamond Jubilee Medal of New York to Henry Loeb. Plimpton introduces each of the evening's honorees, Amyas Ames, Kenneth B. Clark, Gustave Levy, and Ellen Stewart starting at 34:28, however, the recording skips their acceptance speeches. At 48:33 New School President John Everett presents a surprise award to Jacob M. Kaplan, and the recording skips the acceptance speech. At 53:25, Plimpton presents the keynote speaker, Rockefeller Foundation President John Knowles, who speaks at 56:32 on pivotal social trends affecting New York City and America, both historical and current, and on the work of the Center for New York City Affairs. Henry Loeb thanks Dr. Knowles and concludes the event at 1:17:19.
