This audio recording covers one panel from the Vera List Center-sponsored conference, Considering Joseph Beuys.

Tape #1

Panel discussion titled, "International Impact," on the impact of Joseph Beuys in the United States, Europe and Japan. The panel features Gunter Minas, Germano Celant, Louwrien Wijers, and Dirk Luckow.

Gunter Minas speaks first, from 4:41. Minas gives a general overview of the international impact of Joseph Beuys's work, and speaks about his personal recollection of meeting Beuys at documenta 5 in 1972. 

Germano Celant speaks from 22:43, on the influence of Beuys in Italy.

Louwrien Wijers attempts to show a short film from 33:38 to 37:56, when she begins to deliver her talk on Beuys's influence in Japan and her experience of interviewing him there. Wijers continues on to Side B.

From 3:54 on Side B Dirk Luckow speaks on his dissertation research on the influence of Beuys in the United States, with a particular focus on American anti-form art. Luckow concludes at 29:40, and questions from the audience are taken.

Questions continue until the end of the tape. From 39:20, the recording is heavily distorted.

Questions directed to the "International Impact" panel continue, featuring Gunter Minas, Germano Celant, Louwrien Wijers, and Dirk Luckow. The panel concludes at 12:09.
