This audio recording covers two panels from the Vera List Center-sponsored conference, Considering Joseph Beuys.

In the "Actions and Environments" panel, Mario Kramer continues to speak on Iphigenie/Titus Andronicus and its legacy. Armin Zweite begins to speak at 4:33 on the 1985 Beuys installation Palazzo Regale, and its exhibition in Naples in 1985-1986 and later in Dusseldorf. Zweite finishes speaking at 28:01. 

At 45:26, Belinda Cooper introduces the panel on "Social Sculpture," featuring Johannes Stuttgen, Walter Dahn, Babeth, and David Rieff.

On Side B, Johannes Stuttgen begins speaking in German, with Walter Dahn translating. Stuttgen speaks on Beuys's theory of art and his concept of "social sculpture." At 21:44, David Rieff begins to speak on the artistic and intellectual reception of Beuys's work in the United States, and in particular the discomfort American critics felt towards Beuys's relationship with German romanticism, Nazism, and the Green movement. At 27:52 Babeth speaks on her time as Beuys's student and its influence on her. At 36:15 Walter Dahn speaks, with Johannes Stuttgen translating to German, on the historical evolution of "social sculpture."
