Thomas Hart Benton's mural cycle, America Today, as depicted in a classroom. Benton painted a series of murals, America Today in 1930, to cover each wall of the Boardroom on the 3rd floor of the new building of The New School that was designed by Joseph Urban, and open to the public in 1931. The boardroom was later turned into a classroom. The murals were purchased by AXA (then Equitable Life) in 1984, and donated to the Metropolitan Museum in 2012, where they are on permanent view.
