Letter to unknown recipient, probably a New School staff member, accompanying portrait of anthropologist Alexander Goldenweiser. Letter indicates the portrait was commissioned for promotional purposes. The addressee, "Miss Doughty," is likely Isabel Doughty, a New School secretary in the 1920s.
My dear Miss Doughty/ If this doesn't seem to fill the bill please don't hesitate to throw it out and have some one else do it./ My understanding is that you want a sort of "thumb nail" to be put on a leaflet that fits into an ordinary sized envelope./ This drawing can be reduced to two inches or less in height and will gain greatly in effectiveness./ Sincerely yours,/ Caroline O'Day/ Tuesday (text)
