Description

Bonwit Teller window display featuring formal men and women's designer ensembles. The display is part of a series where royalty of different nations are featured in every window. The marbled floor has been achieved by putting marbled paper under glass panels. The wall is hung with sparkly curtains. In addition to the clothing, the display advertises several Revlon products that were being featured in Vogue at the time, by grouping them together on the floor near the foreground of the display. The men’s ensemble consists of a feathered turban, boots, and is perhaps meant to recall a South Asian kurta. The mannequin holds a velvet cloth with a "precious gem" resting on top of it. The women’s ensemble consists of a beautiful gown, long dangling earrings, gloves, several bracelets, a purse, and a fur wrap. A banner at the bottom of the display reads "Bonwit's Queen of Diamonds loves the real thing... a potentate and his precious gem... her fabulous dress from our Designers Sixth Floor... Real Thing Red by Revlon... as pictured in the current Vogue"
